Starting a company in India requires a set of documents from the proposed directors, shareholders and the registered office. Having these documents ready in advance can make the incorporation process faster and help avoid unnecessary resubmissions.

Below is a concise checklist of the documents required for company incorporation in India.
1. Documents Required from Directors & Shareholders
For each proposed Indian director and shareholder, the following documents are generally required:
PAN Card
Aadhaar Card / Passport / Voter ID / Driving Licence as identity proof
Address Proof such as bank statement, electricity bill, telephone bill or other acceptable document
Passport-size photograph
Mobile number and email ID
Specimen Signature
Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), where required for filing
The name and other personal details should be consistent across the documents submitted.
2. Documents Required for Registered Office
The company must have a registered office address in India. Generally, the following documents are required:
Proof of registered office address
Latest utility bill of the premises
Rent Agreement / Lease Deed, if the premises are rented
No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the owner, wherever applicable
Proof of ownership, where applicable
The registered office documents should correspond to the same address mentioned in the incorporation application.
3. Additional Documents in Special Cases
Foreign Director or Shareholder
If a foreign national is a proposed director or shareholder, additional documentation may be required, such as:
Passport
Overseas address proof
Notarised / apostilled documents, as applicable
Corporate documents, where the shareholder is a foreign entity
Corporate Shareholder
If an existing company or legal entity is subscribing to shares, documents may include:
Certificate of Incorporation

Board Resolution approving the investment
